The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone is a USB/cardioid hybrid microphone that can be used for digital or analog recording and a simplified digital alternative to the popular Shure SM7B. Key features include:
Dynamic mic with USB and XLR connections
20 – 20,000 frequency response, 24-bit/48 kHz capture
Built-in touch panel and headphone monitoring
Fine tune audio settings through the companion app
Certain versions of Windows 10 (prior to v2004) may experience a sample rate mismatch, which results in the monitored audio sounding unnaturally high pitched and prompts an error message in the app.
This can be easily resolved by adjusting your computer’s settings, following this guide from Shure.
This rental does not include a stand but we have several desktop and floor stand options available as separate rental items.
If you have mounting solution questions, contact us and tech will be happy to help you determine the right gear for your shoot.
While there are apps that support using the MV7 with a smartphone, features vary wildly from one phone model to the next. For that reason, we recommend using this mic with a desktop computer.
The MV7 can output over USB, 3-pin XLR, or both at the same time.
Please note, the XLR output is passive and is not affected by software settings when using both outs simultaneously.
