Full-Frame E-mount. The Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 Nokton is designed to cover Sony E-mount cameras’ full-frame sensors. It’s also fully compatible with APS-C cameras, on which it’ll provide a 60mm equivalent focal length.
Great for Low-Light Photography. This lens’s fast f/1.2 maximum aperture gives you great low-light performance and excellent depth-of-field control for using selective-focusing techniques.
Advanced Optics. The 40mm f/1.2’s six-group/eight-element optical design includes two aspherical elements, which provide exceptional sharpness and clarity while preventing spherical aberrations and distortion throughout the aperture range.
Manual Focus and Aperture. This lens’s manual-focus design gives you smooth, precise control over focus placement, and its manual aperture ring with 1/3-stop clicks allows for optimum exposure control. It has a 0.16x maximum magnification ratio and a 1.2-foot minimum focusing distance. Even though this is a manually focusing lens, it transfers EXIF data to the camera so that you can use in-camera stabilization, magnification, and other features.

Take: This lens is superb. I love the colors this lens produces, and if you’re keen to the classic film look, then you’ll love it, as well. I also find the focal length to be perfect for everyday situations; it sits right between the common 35mm and 50mm focal lengths at 40mm. The lens also features a de-clicking ring for video shooters, and although it’s manual focus only, it does transfer EXIF data. All in all, the lens is sharp and fast with beautiful colors and bokeh.
