“E” is a reference to an E-Type lens which uses electronic aperture blade control for improved auto exposure accuracy during continuous shooting. “ED” stands for “Extra-Low Dispersion” Glass and is a reference to specialized glass used for the correction of chromatic aberrations.
“PC-E” indicates a perspective control lens with an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism. This type of aperture blade control is considered to be more accurate when using auto exposure than conventional diaphragm blades that use mechanical linkage levers.
