The ARRI ALEXA 35 Body & ARRI LPL Mount Set is a kit that combines the powerful, studio-specced ARRI ALEXA 35 camera with an LPL mount, a PL-to-LPL adapter, a B-mount battery plate, and a BUD-1 Utility Dovetail. Key features include:
4.6K Super35 ARRI ALEV 4 CMOS sensor
Up to 4.6K 4608 × 3164; LPL mount, PL-to-LPL adapter
19 ARRIRAW and Apple ProRes recording formats
17 stops of dynamic range; rich color rendition
LPL-Mount Camera Set. The ARRI ALEXA 35 Body & ARRI LPL Mount Set is based around the studio-grade 4K ARRI ALEXA 35 camera, which features greater dynamic range, contrast, sensitivity, contrast, and color reproduction than its predecessors. In addition to the ALEXA 35 itself, this kit includes an LPL mount, a PL-to-LPL lens adapter, a B-mount battery plate, and a BUD-1 Utility Dovetail.
4.6K Super 35 ARRI ALEV 4 CMOS Sensor. The ARRI ALEXA 35’s new 4.6K Super 35 CMOS sensor gives you 17 stops of dynamic range—2.5 stops more than previous ARRI cameras. Those 2.5 stops are broken up between 1.5 stops at the top end to give you highlight roll-off for a film-like look, and 1 stop at the lower end to give you deeper shadows without overexposing the rest of the shot. This sensor affords you a wide dynamic range that’s perfect for backlit setups and for image editing in post.
Pro-Grade Video Capabilities. The ALEXA 35’s in-camera downsampling and anamorphic de-squeezing allow for nineteen ARRIRAW and Apple ProRes recording formats with a broad range of different resolutions, data rates, aspect ratios, and other features, making it suitable for an array of production styles. You get 4.6, 4, 3.3, 3, 2.7, and 2K recording resolutions.
REVEAL Color Science. ARRI’s newly developed REVEAL color science system gives your images substantially improved color, contrast, sensitivity, and dynamic range when compared to previous ALEXA cameras. The new debayering algorithm helps create cleaner-edged images that are ideal for compositing. The new ACE4 color engine converts RGB image data to the ARRI Wide Gamut color space (AWG4), improving color accuracy, saturation, and tracking, even with subtle tones and low light. New LUTs, which must be used with the Log-C 4 tonal curve, produce superlative shadow tonality and color fidelity, in addition to an optimal color-grading base.
Backward Compatibility. The REVEAL system lets you process footage shot on your ALEXA, ALEXA LF, ALEXA Mini, ALEXA Mini LF, and AMIRA to match footage shot on your ALEXA 35 so that you can intercut among all of it without a noticeable change in quality. While processed images won’t have the same dynamic range or ARRI Textures as your native ALEXA 35 images, they will have cleaner edges; improved color; easier grading; and ACES, Log-C 4, and new LUT compatibility.
Extensive Lens Compatibility. This kit includes an LPL mount and a PL-to-LPL adapter, providing compatibility with a considerable range of cine-style lenses. Additional lens mounts are available as separate rental items, and those will further broaden your selection. The ALEXA 35 is compatible with all common metadata standards and can stream metadata in real time with an optional plugin.
Power and Memory. You can power the ALEXA 35 via the included ARRI B-Mount battery adapter or by separately available batteries. The B-Mount system can power both 12 and 24V accessories, which saves you weight and space when you’d otherwise need to use two separate battery types. The ALEXA 35 offers MFX/ARRIRAW and MFX/ProRes capture to 1 or 2TB Codex Compact drives with resolutions up to 4.6K and frame rates up to 120p.
Displays, Interfaces, and Connections. The ALEXA 35’s left-side display lets you view camera status and adjust settings without an EVF attached, making it ideal for use with stabilizers, drones, and cranes. You can even select a simulated ND filter so that the display gives you a quick visual reminder for any stop compensation you may need. The right-hand side of the ALEXA 35 includes a second EVF port; two 1.5/3/6/12G-SDI outputs, one of which has a return option; timecode in/out; and 12 and 24V accessory output ports. There’s an Ethernet port for real-time metadata streaming in mixed-reality productions. On the audio front, you get two internal mics, one 6-pin LEMO input, one 3.5mm headphone jack, embedded SDI audio, and compatibility with the AEM-1 audio module.
