This is a Fuji X-T5 that comes equipped with an internal 720nm infrared (IR) filter. Key features include:
Modified with an internal 720nm IR filter
6.2K 30p, 4K 60p, FHD 240p 10-bit video
425-point intelligent hybrid autofocus system
Five-axis, seven-stop image stabilization system
What’s Changed? This Fuji X-T5 (Black) IR Modified (720nm) features an infrared filter designed to block visible light and only allow IR light to pass through to the lens and camera. We’ve had this X-T5 modified for IR photography by the good people at Kolari Vision. The low-pass filter was removed and replaced with the internal 720nm IR filter. This is really the only distinction between this version of the X-T5 and the regular X-T5.
This Thing is Different. For those of you who aren’t familiar with IR photography, the look is very different. You’ll want to read up on shooting in IR and the post-processing required for the images.
40MP APS-C X-Trans 5 BSI Sensor. The X-T5’s newly designed, rear-illuminated APS-C 40MP X-Trans 5 BSI sensor gives you a randomized pixel array that promotes exceptional image quality throughout its normal ISO range of 125-12,800.
Ultra-Fast Still Performance. A 1/180,000 sec maximum electronic shutter speed and 1/8,000 top mechanical shutter speed ensure that the X-T5 can capture even the fastest-moving subjects with ease. You get a nearly instantaneous response when you press the shutter, with a mere 35 ms of lag time, and the maximum continuous shooting rate is 15 fps with the mechanical shutter and 20 fps with the electronic shutter.
Not Just for Stills. The X-T5 isn’t just a fantastic still camera; it also has a range of powerful video capabilities. You get internal full-width UHD 4K60p video in 4:2:0 10-bit color, internal 6.2K30p video in 4:2:2 10-bit color taken from a 1.23x copped region of the sensor, and HQ 4K30p footage derived from that same 6.2K crop.
External RAW Recording. You can use the X-T5’s micro HDMI port to record 12-bit ProRes RAW or Blackmagic RAW video to a compatible external recorder. You have the option of working with the F-Log or F-Log 2 profiles, the latter of which gives you an expanded 13-plus stop dynamic range.
In-Body Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization. The X-T5’s five-axis image-stabilization system markedly reduces the effects of camera shake on your footage so that you can easily shoot in low light. It can compensate for up to seven stops of shutter speed, depending on the lens you’re using, and it works in conjunction with most X-series lenses, including non-stabilized ones. You also get four-axis digital image stabilization that can help steady your video footage, especially when you’re recording hand-held.
Hybrid Autofocus System. This camera’s updated on-sensor phase-detection autofocus system uses 425 selectable points to cover almost the entire sensor area, and it’s sensitive down to -7 EV for working in truly low light. This focusing system uses a deep-learning backed AI-adaptive algorithm to offer improved tracking of a wide range of subject types. The Face and Eye Detection capabilities have been refined for even greater accuracy, and to account for features and accessories like glasses, masks, and hairlines. The autofocus system can now recognize an even greater array of subjects, including cars, motorcyclists, trains, planes, cats, dogs, birds, horses, and more.
Pixel-Shift Multishot. Pixel-Shift Multishot mode takes multiple exposure in rapid succession, shifting the image sensor by half a pixel between each shot, and then uses Fuji’s Pixel-Shift Combiner software to combine RAW images into one single, highly detailed 160MP image.
Touchscreen LCD and OLED EVF. The 3.0-inch, 1.62m-dot rear touchscreen LCD features a three-way tilt mechanism for a better view. And there’s a wide 3.69m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder with 0.8x magnification that remains blackout-free even when you’re shooting up 60 fps.
Ergonomics and Build. This camera maintains much of its predecessor’s layout, including locking functions on each control knob, and a focus lever for quick autofocus-point selection. The magnesium-build body is sealed to protect against dust, moisture, and the cold. The X-T5 boasts two UHD-II compatible SD-card slots and is powered by an included NP-W235 battery that gives you about 680 shots per charge.
