Exmor RS CMOS Sensor. The professional-grade Sony PXW-Z90V 4K HDR XDCAM gets alphabetical with a 14.2MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor. The R represents its rear-illuminated sensor. The S refers to its buffer design, meaning much faster processing speeds. The 1.0-inch sensor offers a shallower depth of field than 1/3-inch or smaller sensors.
Fast Hybrid Autofocus System. The hybrid autofocus system offers fast, accurate, and nearly silent performance, making it great for shooting UHD 4K. You can use the camera’s touchscreen to quickly change between autofocus subject and you can use phase-detection AF frames to monitor focus in movie-recording mode.
Hybrid-Log Gamma. This camera’s Hybrid-Log Gamma feature means that your footage will look remarkable on HDR and standard televisions without requiring additional color correction.
3G-SDI Output, 2.4/5 GHz Streaming. The PXW-Z90V’s 3G-SDI output means you can easily integrate it into a professional studio setting, while its built-in 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi gives you the option of live streaming or direct FTP file transfer.
Integrated Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 12x Zoom Lens. The Z90V’s integrated Zeiss T* lens provides a 29-348mm (35mm equivalent) zoom range, making it excellent for capturing landscapes. You can use the Clear Image Zoom feature to double its 12x optical zoom to 24x, and then double that to 48x with the Digital Extender. Manual iris, ISO/gain, and shutter-speed controls enable quick and easy adjustment.
Recording Range. The PXW-Z90V features a menagerie of resolutions, frame rates, and codecs. It records UHD 4K in XAVC Long in a choice of 100 MB/s or 60 MB/s at 29.97, 25, and 23.98 fps. At HD resolutions, the camera records at standard frame rates up to 59.94p, and uses Sony’s Slow & Quick Motion for overcrank/undercrank recording at 1, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, and 60 fps. It also records super slow motion at up to 960 fps. For a version of this camera that also offers MPEG recording formats, check out the Sony PXW-Z90V 4K HDR XDCAM w/ MPEG HD Upgrade.
